Presidential candidate Jeb Bush believes that “restoring the art of public humiliation” could help prevent pregnancies “out of wedlock.” In a recent interview, Jeb Bush doubled down on opinions expressed in his 1995 book. His chapter, “The Restoration of Shame,” makes the case that ‘public shaming would be an effective way to regulate the “irresponsible behavior” of unwed mothers, misbehaving teenagers and welfare recipients.’ Per Vox News, as Florida Governor, Bush, along with Marco Rubio, enacted the “Scarlet Letter Law” “forcing single women seeking to place their children for adoption to publish their sexual histories in a newspaper in an attempt to contact the children’s fathers, even if the mothers were rape victims or minors.”
Political strategist and author Shawna Vercher states that discussing this is critical because “What these candidates pontificate about becomes law. What they think about life choices could impact you or someone that you love.”
Responding to Mr. Bush’s insistence that a traditional two parent family enables children to “live lives of purpose and meaning,” author and commentator Anita Finlay states that “The world he fantasizes does not exist for many today. And there is no one answer as to what makes a child thrive. Children from unfortunate circumstances have become Presidents, in fact. More important than a cookie cutter family is having someone in your life who loves you and tells you that you matter.”
Tune in as Shawna and Anita offer a world view beyond red-meat political rhetoric…

Once again…you gals ARE ON IT! When you look at that picture of Jeb Bush–his eyes are cross-eyed! Seriously, what planet are some of these people living on? You are like the police helicopter circling around the neighborhood, trying to locate the criminal who is hiding in the bushes, hoping not to get caught. Keep shining that beacon of light on those morons. While they may never change their tune, you will continue to shame them for their ridiculous message so others can see more clearly who they are considering putting in office. Thank You!
Thanks so much for your comment, Elisa! You’ve made our day. Sometimes it does feel like tilting at windmills, yet slowly but surely we are getting a bit more traction and growing the audience. Social media helps a lot in this regard. We will keep up the fight! Keep coming back!
