As evidenced by last night’s PA Senate debate performance against Democrat John Fetterman, GOPer “Dr.” Oz is a disgrace. His comment about women’s health care decisions being “between a woman, her doctor and local political leaders” will go down in history for being as ignorant and arrogant as it was grotesque. Take a look:
For the 10 years I’ve had a website, I’ve prided myself on my civility. But the current GOP platform denying a woman’s right to choose (without exception), suppressing voting rights, looking to “privatize,” cut and ultimately destroy Social Security and Medicare is making it impossible for me to be anything but outraged.
These reactions to the cruelty of the GOP’s platform where women’s reproductive rights are concerned are on point:
And for those hedging on whether women are equal citizens under the law, tacitly denying them rights to bodily autonomy by saying abortion is a “complicated issue,” let me simplify it: If any man could get pregnant, carry a fetus to term and endure childbirth after 9 months, abortion would be available on demand at every gas station, drugstore and supermarket. No questions asked.
Considering that so many GOP politicians demonstrate an alarming lack of understanding of a women’s basic anatomy, of the horrors of rape and incest, the risks involved with pregnancy, healthcare issues such as ectopic pregnancy (which can literally kill a woman), or any number of other social, economic or health factors affecting this decision, they should have no say whatsoever. Their horrifying lack of compassion for anyone grappling with terminating a pregnancy, the absence of any nuanced thinking or respect for the expertise of medical professionals telegraphs not only callous ignorance but misogyny and zero respect for 51% of the population.
Women or girls are perfectly capable of making this difficult decision — and making the decision that is right for them — in private consultation with their own health care professional.

As Ms. Reid states: “Women are actually in fear for their lives, feeling as though they live in Gilead.”
There’s only one way to resolve that fear:
