Hillary’s Emails: Truth Trumps Media Madness

Notwithstanding feverish media squeals about Hillary Clinton’s “private” email usage as Secretary of State, the fact is she adhered to the laws in place during her 4 years in that position.  The law insisting solely upon .gov email usage for government employees was not passed until nearly two years after Clinton left office, as Clinton made clear in today’s press conference.  Click-hungry pundits and agenda

Hillary’s Emails: Scandal or Smear?

Republicans got a huge assist from mainstream media this week in their quest to smear Hillary Clinton, thereby arresting her path to the Presidency in 2016.  Press outlets, led by familiar Hillary-bashers MSNBC and The New York Times employed questionable reporting in an effort to manufacture scandal out of Hillary’s private email use during her time as Secretary of State.  Facts can be inconvenient things:

Hillary in Fine Form at Emily’s List Gala

Hillary Clinton’s speech at Emily’s List 30 Year Gala Tuesday night revealed a woman at the top of her game, relaxed, warm and on message as she offered up a preview of her likely Presidential campaign themes. Pushing equal pay for women, and paid leave, for example, she employed the same logic she used as Secretary of State in countries where the moral argument might

By now, Patricia Arquette’s Oscar speech on behalf of women’s equality has gone viral. As much applause as she received for her remarks, the backlash has been loud, too, i.e., she was wrong because her speech excluded certain groups, because she is wealthy, because she only spoke of mothers. Whether or not Arquette erred in making her statement during an Awards telecast, by expecting her

Patricia Arquette brought excitement to an otherwise lackluster Oscar telecast with her impassioned speech on behalf of women’s equality.  Upon accepting the award for Best Supporting Actress, she stood before a worldwide audience of 1 billion and declared: “To every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and every citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time to

Republicans’ Hillary Bashing is a Mistake

The latest Hillary-bashing from Republicans hungry to win the White House in 2016 is the “Hillary’s Hiding” campaign, anchored by RNC billboards charging that Secretary Clinton is afraid to weigh in on economic and foreign policy issues. Republicans who complain incessantly that Hillary sucks up all the air in the room only to do an about face when she, still a private citizen, shuns the

We get mixed messages when it comes to domestic violence. The Grammys and the NFL, for example, trumpet an end to physical and emotional abuse of women, yet near daily news reports telegraph that an athlete’s or pop star’s franchise is held at a higher premium than a woman’s safety. click pic to watch interview  This will only change when enough people with a bully

From writer/actress Amy Schumer and director Judd Apatow, their new film Trainwreck turns the tables on the story of the guy who can’t commit by making the hero a young woman who thinks romance and marriage are her worst nightmare.  As with any comedy of this ilk, she falls for a nice guy and has to wrestle with every rule she’s every made for herself

Beyond Obama’s Tepid Grammy PSA on Domestic Violence

While the Grammys only dipped a toe in the water of stopping domestic violence, activist Brooke Axtell made clear at Sunday night’s event that she was able to survive an abusive situation and later thrive because of one supportive voice. Apart from the frustrating juxtaposition of President Obama’s PSA on stopping violence while abuser and Grammy nominee Chris Brown sat in the audience, the important
